Hi Betty--we're so glad your students enjoyed their time on the BOLD last Friday. The ship is setting out for the second leg of the sediment study as I type. The BOLD will surely be back in the NYC area next year, so we hope to see you for another tour.

Also, here's the BOLD kids web page--it's a great resource for more info on the ship's work.

thanks,

Class 6H2 from Steinway I.S. 141 would like to thank Doug Pabst, Terry Ippolito and the crew of the BOLD for a great tour on Friday, June 17! We learned so much about the EPA BOLD, surveying our coastline and also about the many great careers in the sciences. Every student should spend a few hours on the BOLD- what a great classroom!
We like your new blog. We'll add it to our summer reading list.
Thanks again,
Class 6H2

I just spent a day and a half this week giving tours onboard OSV BOLD at Riverfront State Park. I explained the sediment profile imager camera to visitors. It is a neat piece of survey equipment. BUT, until John posted the video, I had never been there to see it deployed during a survey. Thanks, John.
