2012 November 19

Once again, Documerica has given us stunning and emotional images of our past. There are 273 images of Pennsylvania in the Documerica collection; browse them all. A selection is also available on Flickr for easier browsing.

Today, we highlight a few of these scenes and encourage you to share the State of Pennsylvania’s Environment today. Check out our Philadelphia challenge as well.

Photos taken from the same view, could earn you a spot at the 2013 National Archives Exhibit in D.C. Check out the competition.

Not in PA? Find photos near you with the simple steps below. Entries received by December 31, 2012 through State of the Environment on Flickr will be in the running. Please include a link to the Documerica image(s) you matched.

    Looks a lot like home!
They did miss the burning municipal dumps, sewage into the rivers, ink black water in the streams around the coal regions, and that funny smell from the gas plants in Williamsport.

Great Bridge: This area of Chesapeake holds special historical interest as a Revolutionary War-era battle site. Today home buyers seek residence in this area, which is known for outstanding school athletic programs. On a warm springday, nothing beats a leisurely bicycle tour of the Currituck Outer Banks. Why spend money on gas, when you can hop on a beach cruiser and tour Currituck County via the many winding bike paths that border the beauty and historic interest of the North Carolina shore?
