Consider adding or injecting a natural coagulating fluid or substance to harden or freeze the oil as it comes out or as a way of preventing it from gushing, rather than continuing to attempt to block its powerful flow. Similar effect as to hardening melted candle into wax. Scandinavian/Norweigen oil scientists may know of appropriate coagulant which can be used to congeal flow now!

There are different points along the Gulfstream path at which natural oil dispursive substances can be added to water to dissolve the oil globules. Mr. Al Gore may have researched those key locations which are sensitive to imput or be able to refer.

Oil is the blood of deep Earth and functions as crucial lubricant between the tectonic plates. Extraction of large quantities of oil and gas will later predictably cause massive earthquakes and tsunamis.

I agree with you, but I think that this is about so much more than money. It deals with the state of the government and the complete indifference with which that government has gone about destroying the small bit of democracy that we had 4 decades ago. It appears that laws no longer matter because they can file an amendment and enact it with both "parties" in agreement to get around any rational law in order to promote the benefit of the wealthy. There is no longer any crime for which a "connected" person will be prosecuted.

I want to know why Salazar has not been forced to resign and perhaps face criminal charges for deliberately allowing offshore drilling permits to be issued without the required by law marine mammal environmental impact studies being done. I understand that Bush did his best to undermine all of our environmental law, but I was not aware that this one was also altered.

I am outraged by the actions of Obama and the Congress with respect to the environment. The arrogance and indifference shown in Copenhagen was bad enough. But I really find it offensive to be underestimated. We are not fools, these environmental laws they pass are just give- a-ways to the fossil fuel industry. I know that this plutocracy that we are living in believes that money conquers all, but what planet are they planning to emigrate to once this one has been completely destroyed?

If you have a car accident you pay for damages (hopefully you have insurance)... If a corporation has an accident, it should pay for damages - including damages to tourism industry, and the cost to restore the environment to it its natural state.

If there is no financial penalty, there is no incentive to improve or to manage the risks of accidents. Ultimately the shareholders should pay, as they financed the venture that resulted in damages, or they could sue the managers if they can show negligence.

Any way you slice it we need more accountability that is aligned with capitalism and corporate profitability, and the Governments of the world must define and enforce this solution, because corporations left to their own devices will make a mess of the world...

You can do more than this and you know it! when are we going to stop being so blind about the big oil companies and their domain in the world? Act on the cause not on the consequences. Stop the oil dependence, work on new alternative of clean energy, which are tons and have been discovered decades ago.

Just thought I would add this. People who plan on working or helping with the oil spill can take there HAZWOPER and First Responder courses online at places. I have found it to be the a more economical way to get trained.

I totaly suport your response to this disaster, but at the same time i feel it just should not have happened, there is no excuse for it, the damage to the eco system will be enormous, beyond calculation.Government intervention into oil drilling practice is a must .
