Question of the Week: Where is your favorite place on earth or someplace you dream of visiting during your lifetime?
With Earth Day approaching, now is a good time to reflect on the wonders and pleasures Mother Earth provides us: majestic mountain ranges, beaches and ocean cliffs, and city parks providing a green break in urban life. There truly is “something for everyone” or should we say “somewhere for everyone”. Tell us about your favorite place on earth, or someplace you’d like to experience during your lifetime and why.

its munnar in kerala,India.
I would really like to visit the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone Park.
Other than that, my favorite place is home and my neighborhood in Cleveland.
The beaches on the Olympic Peninsula
Santorini, oe of the Greek Islands, full of “Atlantis” History, Mediteranean climate, food and beauty.
My absolute favorite place to be is on Boracay Island in the Philippines, sitting on White Beach at sunset. Heaven!
Rock City in Tennesee, it reminds me of simpler times. Has that cheesy quality to a 1960′s tourist attraction but is beautiful and unique at the same time.
My favorite place on earth is Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park (directly south of Yellowstone Park). Not only is the wildlife viewing amazing but it is also the best place I’ve been to where you truly understand the importance of a balanced ecosystem. I’ve had many visitors tell me that if you don’t care about the environment in a place like this – you never will!
My favorite place on earth is Glacier National Park and I dream of the day if and when the people of this planet have global warming under control so that Glacier National Park will once again actually HAVE glaciers that one can see and enjoy!
Course Kvhay Alps
1. Florida Atlantic coast (St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra)
2. Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina
3. Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Minnesota
Ireland….so much green :)
My favorite place on Earth that I have been to would have to be Starved Rock, Illinois. I love the senery and the peace next to the Illinois river. At “The Rock” you can go and hike up the mountains and go down the vallies. When I went there my favorite place would be the waterfall. There are small caves and a pool of water thats like a beach. Large mounds of sand make it look like a beach but you are 30 feet under sea level.
1. Starved Rock Illinois it is so peaceful
2. Clearwater Beach, Florida
3. Ludington, Michigan
My favorite place is the Conra Costa County of 50 years ago, the one full of truck farm gardens and orchards of pears. walnuts and other good things. The one where I could ride my horse down the dusty main steets. It is gone forever, as gone as homes under the Three Gorges dam in China. Sad. Progress isn’t always pretty!
For me, home is my favorite place. Where I live is in a big park like setting and I have Oso Creek running by my door. Lots of Mallards, Snowy Egrets, Kingfishers, Gnat Katchers, Wringtailed hawks, buzzards, turtles, bobcats, racoons, Egyption Geese, fish. The birds come right up to the patio. But it is also just a short walk to the library, the city hall, the bank, store, the community center. And if you need to go further a bus stop is on the street just out side of the complex. Best wishes, Michael E. Bailey.
I thought i will be original but I’m not.Why I am saying this?Because before me two people wrote about places I wish to visit;and this is Boracay in Philippines because of the beautiful white beaches and clean water;also the Grand Canyon;because of the wild beautiful nature as it remain as it was.
My favorite place is Bandipur forest, near Bangalore in India. Its really awesome experience of living in the forest in a tent house. It will give you feeling of going back to old days when man used to live in forest. The facilities are excellent. Safari is also good.
Overall, truly adventureous.
Basically, I do not have a favorite spot. I love being where I am at any given time. I really love the mountains especially in Colorado, Montana, Idaho and around that area.
I do know there are a lot of places I do not care to visit again.
My favorite spot outside the United States is Chang Mei Thailand and after that Seville Spain
Artica would be a favorite place to visit on Earth. We have Tibetan Peninsula, Everest clips, Australia and few closer ones.
On this Earth, and in this body, I would love to dive the reefs of Palau or the Seychelles.
But the place I dream about is in heaven with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Remember, this is not our planet; we are simply renters. The answer to all of our wordly problems (environmental, political, etc.)
As a “military brat” and later as a member of the US military myself, I’ve managed to visit a fair portion of the globe (at least the northern half of it). I enjoyed visiting or living in many different places and cultures, but right now, I think my favorite place on the planet is my own home … or more correctly, the property surrounding it. I love the fragrance that perfumes the air in the early morning or late afternoon. Right now, it’s mostly dianthus (clove pinks); as the spring progresses into summer, flowering honeysuckle, privet, lavender, and roses will be added to the mix, along with a few strands of trumpet creeper and maybe some Confederate Jasmine. Right now, in the early morning, I love to step out into my yard to be greeted by a raucous riot of birdsong … cardinals, wrens, chickadees, owls, woodpeckers, and heaven alone knows how many others, all trying to out-shout the rest in their best “springtime is for courting” voices. I love watching leaves fill out and cover over the winter-brown twigs and branches on trees that my husband and I planted; I love being around long enough to watch them grow and flourish. I love being able to walk into the woods just a little way and see or hear nothing man-made. I love engaging in a game of chase or kickball with my German Shepherd; I love resting in the shade while he basks in the sun. If home is where the heart is, mine is safely settled. I may travel again in the future, but I’ve already found the place I love and it’s close to home.
High Island, Texas, from about April 10 to May 10. Even though the salt dome’s trees have been devasted by hurricanes in recent years, migrating birds still seek a place to land after encountering bad weather at sea. The spectacle of scores of species of birds landing in the thousands is a sight that I am sure cannot be duplicated any other place on earth. Truly awe inspiring and if the weather is good and they keep on flying when they reach the coast, you can take comfort in the knowledge they have survived another migration.
The place i would like to visit is Barcelona and Madrid, Spain.

My favorite place on earth is without question – the desert. I love the open nothingness of it.
My favorite place, so far, is the Death Valley, CA/NV area. The peacefullness I find there in the winter months is profound. The color, the openess, the solitude … Beautiful. The wind whipping through your hair, the moon perched upon a mountain, the sound of a single insect, the sunsets… Words cannot do it justice.
I live in North East PA. It is also beautiful here, magnificent at times, but every window I look out of, I see a tree. My imagination gets stifled here. I lose my sense of freedom. But, then again, there are times I would not leave.
Sounds like heaven!
There’s no place like home,
There’s no place like home.
I feel the same way Linda
This is a tough question; I have not actually traveled to enough places to be able to be completely sure about where my favorite place is. I know I used to love playing in the woods and crawling through the tunnels when I was a kid, and I loved the stream next to the sand dune with the minnows and the quartz rocks and the snakes and stuff. I also used to love my Grandfather’s property because of the many acres of trees and wildlife, and the pond with the lillies and such chilling out all over the place. I love the mountains too. The Tennessee mountains are really nice because you can watch little mini waterfalls as you drive by. My dream habitat would be to live in a mountainous region in the middle of the woods in a log cabin, with a small clearing, enough so that deer and other wild animals could confidently walk across the yard at some parts of the day, with a natural waterbody that I can put a deck on and kayak every once in awhile and just enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and feel of nature each day :) I saw the mountains in Africa at the IMax once and that place was so rich in species and so undeveloped and overgrown, and adventurous and easy yet hard to climb…, I would love to visit there one day as well. The Panda reserve in China would be a neat experience. There are just many many places I still need to visit before I can pick a FAVORITE, however at least you have an idea of my dream habitat.
Mr. Bailey,
Be careful, or thousands of people will come flooding into that area and, by the growing pressure of their numbers, ruin it.
I would enjoy going to a place that is devoid of man-made noise. Not easy to find near where I am on the US east coast…
In Rome eating a grapefruit gelato.
My favorite place on earth (so far) is canyonlands national park, in Utah. But I dream of one day visiting Morocco!
Kashmir, India
Ahmadnagr, India
ALASKA
WHY?
Want to see the Iditarod race.
Want to see the Russia from the tip of Alaska.
Want to see how people live in such harsh climate.
Top point on Mt. Everest.
See the world from there.
Be the youngest kids to tame Mt. Everest.
I don’t actually have a favorite place on earth. God created this marvelous earth and l am just spellbound on what he has created.
So I love all places he has created and thank him everyday for it.
God created this majestic place and l am just in awe of what he has done.I could never pick just one place God has given it to us to enjoy it all and l think every place is beautiful in its own way.
My favorite place on earth is a beautiful and peaceful place in Virginia known as “Yogaville” On Friday evenings, they open up two of their meditation buildings to the public. Walking there is a magical and transcendental experience.
cuba. the people, the beauty, the ocean, the music, the architecture, the history, the food, the old cars……everything.
I love nature and love being wherever I’m surrounded by it: mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, ocean, desert – even just the local woods. Walking quietly through the woods, sitting on a rock, watching and listening. Or being at the shore and seeing the waves crashing on the rocks. Seeing the majestic beauty of this great world, wherever it is, and the peace found when surrounded by nature is the best “medicine” for whatever ails a person. For me, it brings me closer to God.
I have been around the world as part of the Merchant Marine. I have seen some incredible places:
The waterways entering Valdez Alaska in spring is AWE INSPIRING!
South America – particularly the port views of Guanta, Venezuela and Salvador Bahia, Brazil and the Rio Orinoco is AMAZING.
The Caribbean – St. Lucia, Providencialis, Martinique, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman, and I will never forget hiking in Trinidad and Tobago.
Hawaii – wow.
And closer to home – the Shenandoah Mountains – Thank you God!
My favorite place is Mt. Airy Arboretum in Cincinnati, OH for a totally relaxing experience! I have travelled extensively and when I came off the road its where I escaped to enjoy the beauty of nature! Been doing it for 20+ years! I also enjoyed the beaches in Rio de Janiero and Ipanema Beach in Brazil when travelling!
Moon. It’s quiet there.
