I see the relentless instinct for growth continues to dominate human activity. More high technology without any plan to ease the horrendous traffic problems flying cars would impose on an already overcrowded society. Yet, "a growing economy is a healthy economy" say the commercial pundits. But a growing economy on a shrinking planet has no future. The Earth becomes more toxic every day that growing tons of waste and garbage are not safely recycled. So, the flying cars will soar over a polluted vista of sprawling megalopolies surrounded by mountains of landfill. But that's unthinkable, so EPA staff simply doesn't, preferring to dream of a "Jetson" future of high tech paradise.

It would be nice to have flying cars but before we have them we need to create ways to make sure the car won't start if the driver has been drinking and to make sure a driver can't talk or text on a cell phone while the car is moving. We need to implement a Complete Streets Program that has embedded in the new roads the best safety technology that is available. Best wishes, Michael E. Bailey.
