Pristine lakes, surrounded by mountains with breathtaking views. Best time to go is between March and October for the Mediterranean climate.

The unspoiled natural beauty is evident with the lack of pollution. Will definitely recommend you guys check it out.

However I also have the most amazing at peace feeling when kayaking on Lake Tahoe which is along the border of California and Nevada. The water is stunningly clear and the mountains are magnificent. That’s part of why I live about 200 feet from the Pacific Ocean. However, Golden Gate Park has some great treed areas to hike through (and you can get back to civilization by walking 1-2 blocks from any location).

2nd Place – Oregon (near Mill City/Salem) has forest, river, ocean and mountains all in one package! Very relaxed. Oregon/northern California is very similar.
