The Clean Air Act: A New Chapter After 40 Years of Success

Today Administrator Jackson spoke at the 40th Anniversary of the Clean Air Act Conference, a meeting bringing together past, present and future leaders of the effort to clean the air we breathe. Attendees celebrated four decades of healthier communities, strong economic growth and bipartisan partnerships that have defined the historic success of the Clean Air Act. Since 1970, the Act has saved hundreds of thousands of lives and reaped trillions of dollars in health benefits for our nation. It has also helped spur innovations that allowed America’s entrepreneurs and inventors to lead the way in cutting-edge global markets

At the meeting, Administrator Jackson spoke about the Act’s success in cutting harmful pollution. She noted that, despite the persistent doomsday predictions, the American economy had continued to flourish under the Clean Air Act. She then outlined her principles for confronting today’s Clean Air Act challenges and continuing the clean air efforts that benefit our health, our environment and our economy.
