On Tuesday, November 17, Administrator Jackson spoke to the Brownfields2009 Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference was one stop on Administrator Jackson’s first official visit to her former home city since becoming Administrator of the EPA. In her speech, Administrator Jackson addressed the critical economic and environmental issues facing our nation today. She explained how brownfields cleanups — community based efforts to remediate contaminated lots and prepare them for redevelopment — play a role in creating jobs, protecting health, expanding the conversation on environmentalism, and providing hope.
